A piece about the male gaze. I think that the single biggest disadvantage against women is the burden of visibility. Something cannot be open for consumption if it isn’t on display. The female body, for centuries, has been something to be celebrated, but villianized. Sex is something done to women, not a consensual and symbiotic act. The concept hasn’t changed, only the avenues. And to be clear, I support sex workers. I do not support the ways porn culture has dehumanized women of varying marginalities, and I will never support the men who take advantage of that system.
